CAT LOFT ATTENDANT: Deliver a clean environment and stress-free atmosphere for guests who visit with our adoptable cats.

Essential Functions
  • Ensuring cat loft guests feel welcome and comfortable, and offering gentle guidance on conduct when necessary
  • Maintaining a sparkling clean environment for both humans and kitties
  • Using our POS system, place food and drink orders for guests
  • Perform opening and/or closing procedures according to Colony standards
  • Respectfully interact with other team members and management to ensure happy customers and promote sales

Job Type

  • Part-time (24-36 hours per week)
  • Must be able to work at least two weekends per month

KITCHEN HELP: Both day and evening shifts available, Wednesdays through Sundays. Our ideal candidate can easily get to Downtown, has access to personal transportation, possesses a Food Safety Manager certification and can run cafe-related errands as needed. Prior experience in a commercial kitchen required. 25-40 hours/week.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Knowledge of and complies consistently with restaurant's standard portion size, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
  • Sample, smell and observe food to ensure conformance to recipes and standards of appearance and taste.
  • Prevents the spoiling and contamination of foods by enforcing proper sanitation practices and ensuring compliance with policy and health regulations
  • Complies with departmental policies as well as restaurant rules and regulations and policies set forth by management.
  • Cleaning, including dishwashing, bagging and removing garbage, mopping

You have

  • Past kitchen experience in a restaurant/cafe atmosphere;
  • Confidence to work independently;
  • Ability to work electric meat slicer, mixer, food processor, sandwich press;
  • Ability to use knives correctly and safely;
  • Flexibility to change work hours based on café evolution;
  • Ability to perform physical activities, including prolonged standing, repetitive bending, climbing, and lifting heavy items;
  • A positive attitude with the desire to come in to work every day with a smile, ready to help.

BARISTA/SERVER: All shifts available. Must be able to work Saturdays.

Duties will include:

  • Provide friendly table service to cafe patrons
  • Prepare a variety of espresso and coffee drinks with precision and efficiency
  • Master our POS system and help manage inventory
  • Serve wine, mix cocktails on occasion, and help around cafe as needed
  • Educate guests about our unique offerings
  • Maintaining a sparkling clean work environment

You have:

  • Current/recent barista experience on a semi-automatic espresso machine
  • Skills at delivering a great customer experience, and maximizing sales and tips
  • Maturity and experience to stay calm under pressure
  • Capability and confidence to execute opening and/or closing procedures on your own (experience in this area highly preferred)
  • Ability to perform physical activities, including prolonged standing, repetitive bending, climbing, and lifting heavy items
  • A strong work ethic, making you super reliable and trustworthy

CAT LOFT VOLUNTEER
Our Mission: To find loving homes for Pittsburgh's at-risk cats, while providing a unique, fun, relaxing gathering place for humans.

Position Overview

  • Oversee Cat Loft guest experience and operations, including taking food and beverage orders
  • Monitoring cat behavior (which may require brushing, petting, chin scratches and belly rubs ;-))
  • Ensuring guests adhere to Cat Loft Rules
  • Cleaning, including scooping litter
  • Available shifts: 6:30-8:30pm, Wednesdays through Saturdays, and Sundays 2:30-4:30pm.

You

  • Are gentle, caring, and very patient with cats
  • Have basic knowledge of cat health, cat behavior, and cat care
  • Support Colony Cafe’s mission
  • Have easy access to Downtown Pittsburgh
  • Are not allergic to cats
